Here’s a quick Spaghetti Bolognese recipe  – an old standby – that no one can resist!

Although it’s not much to look at (we were a little horrified to see it up-close-and-personal on the home page!), it’s a delicious & satisfying meal, best enjoyed with any kind of side salad, a glass of red wine, perhaps,  and if you really don’t care about carbs, some garlic bread is always fabulous.

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 5 (or more!) – big mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 – onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves (or more – we use close to a whole bulb!) – Garlic, minced finely
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp. dried parsley
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  1. Brown ground beef over a medium heat breaking up with spatula as it cooks.
  2. Add mushrooms and onion and cook with the beef for a few minutes or until onion is tender.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant
  4. Add red wine
  5. Add cans of tomato
  6. Bring to the boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, over low heat for as long as you have time (at least 10 – 15 minutes)
